Text us what your domain does today, and whether you want to keep it. We will tell you which one fits and set it up either way. You can also change your mind later; moving from one to the other is another five minute job.

Send it the way you would type it: yourbusiness.com or app.yourbusiness.com. Exactly that, spelled out, so nothing gets set up on the wrong name.
We add your address on our side first, and then text you the exact settings to paste in. They look like A and CNAME and a value beside each one.
Use the ones we send you and nothing else. The value is generated for your app specifically, so anything you find in an old blog post or a help article will point your domain at the wrong place.
That is the company you pay for the domain every year: GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace and so on. The exact menu for each one is below.
We watch for it from our side, and we text you the moment your app answers on your own address.
We do not need your login, and nobody who does need it will ask for it in a text. If you would rather not do this part yourself, most of these companies let you invite david@davidfrench.io as a user on the account, and we will make the change for you and text you when it is in.

dcc.godaddy.com, pick the domain, then DNS, then Add New Record. If a record with the same name already exists, edit that one instead of adding a second.
Domain List, then Manage beside the domain, then the Advanced DNS tab, then Add New Record.
Settings, then Domains, pick the domain, then DNS Settings. Squarespace bought Google Domains, so if you registered your domain with Google in the past, this is where it lives now.
Domains in your account, pick the domain, then Advanced, then Edit DNS.
DNS, then Records, then Add record. One extra thing here: set the little cloud beside the record to DNS only, the gray one, not the orange one. Orange breaks the security certificate.
Domains & SSL, pick the domain, then DNS, then Add record.
All four hide it in the same place: open the domain, look for Manage, then DNS or Advanced DNS.
Search your email for the domain name plus the word "renewal", or look for it on a card statement. Or just text us the domain and we will tell you who it is registered with.
If you are moving off Squarespace, Wix or any other site builder, keep paying for it until your app is answering on your domain and you have seen it with your own eyes. Canceling first can take the domain settings down with it, and then nobody can reach either one.
If you get mail at you@yourbusiness.com, say so before you change anything. Adding the one or two lines we send you does not touch your email. Handing us the whole domain does, unless we carry your mail settings across first, which we will happily do. Either way we want to know first, because email going dark is the one mistake here that actually hurts.
Sometimes it is five minutes. Occasionally the internet takes its time and it is the next morning. Nothing is broken while you wait, and you do not have to do anything else.
Your address gets its security certificate on its own, and it renews itself forever. There is nothing to buy and nothing for you to install.
The address your app already has keeps working, so any link you have handed out still opens. Everyone who signed up stays signed up, and their accounts and data come across untouched, because it is the same app either way.
Then this page is not your job at all.
Text us two or three names you like. We check what is actually available, tell you what we would pick and why, and once you say the word we register it and put your app on it. The domain is yours, so you pay for it. We tell you the exact price before anything is bought, and we handle every other part of it.
