Build story

Modern Hero Body: a whole coaching business, in one app.

An online personal trainer was renting five tools to run his coaching and none of them talked to each other. Now his clients open one app with his name on it, and he runs programming, nutrition, check-ins, community and his sales pipeline from the other side of it.

The challenge

Five rented tools, none of them his

Online coaching runs on a stack nobody chose on purpose. Programming lives in one platform, food logging in another, scheduling in a third, form videos in a shared drive, and the actual conversation in text messages that get lost.

Every one of them is a subscription, every one of them puts somebody else's name in front of his clients, and none of them know anything about the others. A coach ends up retyping the same numbers into three places.

The ask was simple: put all of it in one place, and put my name on it.

What we built

One app, two sides

🏋️

Programs that get logged

He builds the program, attaches a demo video to any movement, and assigns it to a week. His client opens the day and logs straight against it.

🍽️

Food logging that people use

Search a database, scan a barcode, or just describe the plate. Portions come in real units, not grams, so nobody has to weigh a bagel.

💬

Chat, community and live

One-to-one coach chat, a members feed with GIFs, polls and photos, plus scheduled live sessions his clients watch in the app.

📋

A business, not just an app

The coach side carries a full CRM: pipeline, lead texting, saved replies, automated follow-ups, a calendar and win-rate stats.

The signature feature

Logging food without the chore

Food logging is where every coaching app loses people. It is fiddly, it is in grams, and by week two the client has quit. So we attacked the friction from four directions at once and let the client pick whichever is easiest in the moment: search, a barcode scan that works on an iPhone camera, describing the meal in plain words, or saving a repeat meal prep once and tapping it forever after.

Portions come from real serving data, so it is "one large egg", not "50 grams". The coach sets the targets from his side and the rings on the client's Today screen fill in against them.

How it moved

Built with the coach, not for him

V1
The core loop: programs, workouts, food log, check-ins and coach chat, under his brand on his own install-to-home-screen app.
Round 2
His first real feedback round. Bigger video uploads, better exercise demo search, GIFs and photos in chat, barcode scanning, and portions in real units.
Then
Community feed, live sessions, challenges with leaderboards, cardio logging, progress photos and a recipe library he writes himself.
Now
A full CRM on the coach side, so the app that serves his clients also brings him new ones.
